BMW Welt

Task.

For BMW Welt in Munich, terminals were required for the "Gallery of Engines". It was also necessary to develop an exceptional Design Table and to furnish the website with a new design, new functions and new content in time for the opening of the new BMW Automobile Delivery Centre.

Strategy.

With its new terminals, the "Gallery of Engines" presents the fine art of engine development in an easy-to-understand form, offering visitors both entertainment and information. The Design Table is representative of BMW design, both aesthetically and metaphorically, and offers brand-new experiences for the user. On the website, the user undertakes a voyage of discovery in the interactive buildings plan and gains valuable insights via videos, image sequences and animations.

Realisation.

Seven multi-media touchscreens were developed which take users on a trip deep inside the engines. 3D films and animated graphics turn technology into a hands-on, multi-media experience. Background reports provide insights into the work of BMW engineers. Driving films and engine sounds show BMW powerplants in action. The Design Table consist of two 62-inch touchscreens, with a virtual surface of water as the user interface. This surface doesn't just look like water, but reacts like water, too − even when touched repeatedly at the same time and without any time lapse. On the website, texts, images, videos, Flash films and interactive animations provide comprehensive information on buildings, exhibitions, events, automobile delivery and offers.
